The men were sad, and turned against David. But like the silver lining in every dark cloud, the story continues to tell us that David encouraged himself in the Lord.
This implies
that in the midst of the gloom, sadness, depression and sorrow, one man lifted
himself up, found a reason to be joyful and saw hope. It was after this David
inquired of the Lord and he conquered that nation.
How many times
do we wait for situations to turn around before we make a move, or do we wait
till we listen to a renowned motivational speaker before we get ourselves
motivated, or wait till we get to church on Sunday to listen to the preacher
before we are inspired for the rest of the week?
Your life
belongs to God but you are responsible for it. Therefore you are responsible
for your successes and failures. It is your responsibility to inspire yourself.
Don’t surround yourself with things or people that do not inspire or motivate
you. Let your environment inspire you.
Surround
yourself with pictures that show you where you are going. Listen to music that
inspires you and not ones that depreciate the mind. Make sure you are living in
an environment you love and enjoy. Many times we take for granted the effect
our environment has on us.
Do not let
someone else dictate what surrounds you, decide what you want to surround
yourself with and ensure they make you happy. Don’t settle for a lesser kind of
living, when you can live better. Make sure you truly enjoy every moment of
your day.
Remember you
are responsible to keep yourself happy, motivated and inspired; don’t pass that
responsibility to someone else!
Shalom,
You are made for MORE!
